growing pains

i yearn to grow old
i yearn to push through the pain and aching bones
to live to the day they should have started aching

i yearn to grow strong
i yearn to push through the sadness and grief
to conquer strife time and time again
to live to the day i feel peaceful

and when i the seed i have sown matures
i shall shed my favorite disguise
peel off my sundress
and become the man I'm meant to be

will you believe your eyes then?
probably not
but that's okay
